CODE ENFORCEMENT AGENCY

When: 9:00AM on the Second (2nd) Tuesday of each month

Where: Former Council Chambers, Borough Hall, 110 West Packer Ave

What:The Code Enforcement Agency's function is to make recommendations to the Borough Council concerning enforcement of the Borough Building and Zoning Codes including the issuing of building permits and contractor insurance verification permits.

Zoning Hearing Board

Who: Andrew Hickey/Chairperson, Karen Cooley, Cyril Morris, and Richard Jennings/legal counsel.

Alternate Members:  John Repasky, Jr. and Margaret Barry

When: Meets as required. Meetings announced in Legal Ad section of the MorningTimes.

Where: Former Council Chambers, Borough Hall, 110 W. Packer Ave.

What: The Zoning Hearing Board has exclusive jurisdiction over issues concerning land use ordinances, appeals, variances, and such other issues that may come before them. A more complete description of the Board's duties may be found in the Borough of Sayre Code, (see Chapter 173, Article XX, § 173-145, Zoning Hearing Board.)

Note: The Council President, Henry Farley, serves as an ex officio member of the borough council's committees.

Administration Committee

Who: Eugene Cerutti/Chairperson, Robert Flick, Timothy Shaw

When: 10:00 AM on the Second (2nd) Tuesday of each month

Where: Former Council Chambers, Borough Hall, 110 West Packer Ave.

What: The Administration Committee’s function is to make recommendations to Borough Council concerning legal, financial, personnel and administrative matters. It also has the responsibility to prepare and review the budget for adoption by Borough Council.

Public Safety Committee

Who: James Daly/Chairperson Eugene Osmun and Timothy Shaw

When: Second (2nd) Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m.

Where: Former Council Chambers, Borough Hall, 110 West Packer Ave.

What: Oversees Public Safety issues concerning the Borough of Sayre. Coordinates among the Council, the Fire Department, the Police Department, the Police Committee, the Borough Emergency Management Agency, and Valley Project Impact. 

Public Works Committee

The Public Works Committee generally handles issues regarding road maintenance, parks & recreation, snow removal, sewer, trash and recycling collection, and flood protection. 

Who: Robert Flick/Chairperson, Irene Slocum and James Daly

When: Meets monthly on the second (2nd) Monday of the month at 3:00 p.m.

Where: Former Council Chambers, Borough Hall, 110 West Packer Ave.

Planning Commission

Borough of Sayre Code and select Chapter 23.

Who: Jim Daly/Chairperson, Barbara Ault, James P. Bentley, Rosanne McClary and Maureen Howland.

When: Meets monthly on the Second (2nd) Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

Where: Former Council Chambers, Borough Hall, 110 West Packer Ave.

What: Responsible for the preparation of the Sayre Borough Comprehensive Plan; preparing and presenting revised Zoning Ordinances; and making recommendations to Sayre Borough on amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.

Civil Service Commission

Borough of Sayre Code and select Chapter 181 Civil Service Commission.

Who:  Jim Crease, Chairman, James Shaw and Ronald Cole

When:  The Civil Service Commission meets on an as needed basis.

Where: Former Council Chambers, Borough Hall, 110 West Packer Ave.          

What: The basic function of the Civil Service Commission is to develop the qualifications for police positions, to establish a method of testing and qualifying applicants for those positions, to prepare candidates for hiring and promotion by overseeing the administration of the testing elements established and to conduct hearings for police officers suspended, removed or reduced in rank.

Shade Tree Commission

Borough of Sayre Code and select Chapter 153 Trees.

Who:  At this time Sayre Borough is seeking Volunteers for this commission

When: Meets monthly on the First (1st) Wednesday of the month at 7:15 p.m.

Where: Former Council Chambers, Borough Hall, 110 West Packer Ave.

What: The Shade Tree Commission was founded in 2006 and is committed to preserving and growing the community forest in Sayre.

Valley Joint Sewer Authority

Who: Ronald Cole, Henry Farley, David Jarrett

When: Meets monthly on the First (1st) Wednesday of the month at 5:15 p.m.

Where: Valley Joint Sewer Plant

Sayre Public Library

Who: Henry Farley, Irene Slocum

When: 2nd Thursday of Each Month @ 5:00 p.m.
